Flowing electrons
I challenged myself to use 2D elements in After effects to fake a 3D with flowing lines resembling electrons or information transfer.
It took me a while to get to the result that I was happy with.

Snowbells
This is a tiny story I made as a personal project. When you think spring is here, it's always.. Always! a false start =D
I put that thought into that animation. Painting and artwork prep in Photoshop, then animated in After effects and did some simple sound design in Audition.
Role: Concept, Art, Motion Graphics, Sound Design
Stork flying
Many birds have a surprisingly long lifespan. Storks for example can get up to 40 years old. This is another beautiful fabric print I animated for Breden's marketing. Very enjoyable! And surprisingly easier than I feared.

Role: Animation
Animated tiny turtles
Animating charackters from the fabric prints makes them come alive. This was something I enjoyed most of all, when working with the marketing team at Breden. Gives me a chance to really look closely, how a turtle moves and then trying to put the essence into simple shapes makes my brain very happy.
Role: Animation
Rebranding.
A quick and simple logo morph I did to make the rebranding clear for their customers. That was a lot of fun =)
Role: Motion Design
MoonFIN event revealers
Mooncascade - a leading Finantial Tech company organized a meetup event for scaling startups. This was a series of revealers for speakers and location leading up to the event. Snappy and energetic in an endless loop, matching their CVI.
Role: Motion Graphics
This is not REAL
Everything on this image is a 3D render. I started with 3D clothing out of necessity. First lockdown due to Covid made it extremely difficult to get products photographed. Also considering the remarkable cost savings, this was more or less the only way to go. Read more about my journey!
Role: 3D modelling, Texture, Render
Outdoor activity icons
These are custom icons depicting all kinds of outdoor activities, where it's important to keep warm. I made the hang-tag for a high-balaclava designed for grownups. It had to have a different feel compared to the kids products.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design, Branding
Logo animation
I thought I'd animate my own logo. As a montion designer, I should definately have one =D Bit of light and color, different emotions, from sketch to finished product. So... basically iike the kind of work I do.
Actually I've done more than one, you check out my Instagram for more!
Role: Logo Design, Animation
BYTAGION logo design
A startup producing very specific computer hardware was looking for a logo that would feel nordic, high-tech but still have some sort of hint to traditions and heritage. We ended up using the traditional knitting pattern element (Kaheksakand in Estonian) and made it look like a circut board.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design, Branding
Color burst
Seamless loop of exploding color. Visible light is made of all the colors. And light in general is mind-blowing. It is a wave, but it's also a particle yeah... Mind already blown.
Role: Concept, Motion Graphics
Logo for a composer
Jaret Choolun is a brilliant composer and conductor from Australia. The swoosh indicates a clef and his very dynamic composing style. It is combined of his initials J and C to make the general form. It is also possible to write by hand as a siganture.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design, Branding
Weightless in Water
Every once in a while I experiment with music, singing, recording and in this case, I even tried mixing the whole song. The lyrics and visuals were cool to make. Was a very good practice do make a lyrics video in the style of a paper cutout animation in a low framerate. Mind you... it took a while. The song is loong.
Role: Concept, Motion Graphics, Lyrics, Melody, Vocals
Connected
Everything is connected. Same atoms, same earth, same atmosphere.. This assignment was to use text and AE scripts to make an element move in a meaningful way. One dot becomes two and reveals the text.
Role: Concept, Motion Graphics
Opening sequence
Bluebloods is a fictional series about a royal family who tries to win back power and have the family rule again. This was actually an excercise for the Uni. I enjoyed experimenting with shooting actual footage of flowing ink which was the bases for the sequence. Everything you see or hear is created from scratch.
Role: Concept, Filming, Editing, Soundtrack
Animated monsters
I spent many years getting to know these guys. They got into all kinds of mischief! They are silly, cute and very full of life. And for five years, they became loved mascots for a company called Breden Kids. It started off as any other fabric print, but they had something special about them. Have a look at all of the monsters!
Role: Concept, Animation
Merino sheep
These cute sheep were used to catch attention and illustrate the fact that the products were made of soft merino wool.
A few of them were also knitting or jupming through the air like superman.
Role: Concept, Animation
Shy tree fox
Every time I animated a charackter from a print, it was like trying to understand their temperament. What are they like? How do they behave. Those foxes were just adorable and very shy. That's why in this animation some climbed up a tree. And a new creature was created... Tree fox

Role: Animation
Lazy sloth
How to animate 'lazy', 'slow', 'not doing anything'. Well... I decided to animate the wind that moves this adorable sloth. As limp as possible.

Role: Animation
Chameleons
Did you know, that chameleons change color by altering their skin on a molecular level. They are able to changes the structure of their skin and therefor reflect back light in different wavelenghts.

Role: Animation
Poster with light painting
How to depict light? Only in contrast with darkness. This was a fabulous experiment. I wrapped led christmas lights around a long stick, then set the camera on a long exposure and ran around the choir members. Lots of photoshop and editing and poster was ready!
Role: Concept, Photography, Photo editing, Graphic Design
Hangtags
Breden had many different products and all of them had a small hangtag that showed what the garment is for and how to use it. I updated them and created new ones when needed. I'll describe the system and different styles more closely - just click on the image to see more.
Role: Graphic Design, Branding
Swan animation
"My feathers are so silky and smooth that my crown keeps sliding off" This swan is probably my favorite of Mariann Lukka's creations. It was one of the early ones I animated and I still like it. Very simple movement, simple idea.
Role: Animation
Too big...
It is sometimes tricky to get the size right with toddlers. And other times the product changes the next season. So instead of another photoshoot we did a bit of digital fitting. And coloring... Getting black to something lighter is pretty hard to do!
Role: Photoshop magic
Cute as a bunny
Those bunnies only had round heads with eyes closed on the print. A bit of a challenge. So I gave them bodies and made them into cuuute bunnies. I remember this animation was easier to make than I thought it would be. It just worked on the first try. Wonderful when that happens. Was also one of the earliest ones I made.
Role: Animation
Icon-set
Instagram saved stories can have different icons. So I created a set of icons that would convey the same message as the stories subject. Most of these elements were already used elswhere. On Breden's website, social media and physical tags. I added Behind the scenes, Winter, Spring and Autumn icons to the set.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design, Branding
Logo and business cards
Need your piano tuned? Helen's your girl! She asked for business cards to start her freelance specialist job, fixing and tuning pianos. The dandelion was always close to her heart. Do you get the hint to black and white keys and the bit of it that's not tuned yet?
Role: Concept, Graphic Design, Branding
Loading GIF
I took a simple square and made a looping loading gif. It is more pleasant to wait for something to load, if what you're forced to look at is interesting.
The other example is the loading image you see on this website.
Role: Concept, Animation
Koalas
It is often times tricky to work with a GIF format. The movements should be complex enough to convey a message and be interesting, but small enough so the file size of a GIF would stay small. So deciding on a movement is often times guided by these constraints.

Role: Animation
Raindrop - walk cycle
This is concept art and charackter design for a cartoon I'm planning to create. The story is about rain turning into snow and how it happens =) It's still in early stages, but the story is solid. My personal project that I never have time for. Should I take time for it?
Role: Concept, Animation, Story
Data visualization
I thought to myself, if there were just one thing that I would change in Tourism, what would it be... An app that you can use anywhere to learn about the history and it's stories on that location while you travel. Like Google maps with cafes and museums marked on it, but with actual stories that you can listen to.
Role: Concept, Data visualization, Graphic Design, UI Design, HTML, CSS
Lysios logo
Heavy metal band wanted to update their logo to be ready for their first album and tour. We decided to keep it as a wordmark, but to make it a little more unique. They chose the middle option. I also think it's the strongest one of those three.
Role: Logo Design
Lysios album cover
Heavy metal band came out with their first album and looked for a celestial enigma machine design for it. I ended up making a very quick design for their premiere album "Enigma"
Role: Graphic Design
Missing pattern
Time... one of the most valuable commodities. Sometimes there isn't enough of it, but you still need pictures. Photoshop saves the day... We shot pictures with solid grey color and I just added the pattern "in post".
Role: Photoshop magic
Chameleon?
Notice the original pattern has a light turquoise in the waves? This was quite a challenge to get right for the new pattern. Luckily I could do about 90% of it globally and had to go in with the stylus only to retouch details and fix things here and there. As always - don't believe any pictures you see =D
Role: Photoshop magic
Stars concert poster
"Silent stars go by" is a tiny part of a piece the choir performed at the christmas concerts. This design is like a star burst. Twinkling sound from the darkness. Contemporary choir music often feels like that.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design
Two Skies concert poster
Conductor and composer Jaret Choolun wrote a piece describing "two skies". One above, one below. I recreated the images I had in mind in this painting. This became the bases for the concert poster.
The painting is done fully digitally in Photoshop.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design
Font design
This was one of my university assignments - create a font using basic shapes. I used a circle, rectangle and another rectangle in a 50 degree angle to cut out some parts of the letters. I followed Don Draper's advice to make it simple, but significant. I think it turned out pretty well. Typography for me is more like a tool for a purpose and less of an artform by itself. I do get though why people find it fascinating.
Role: Concept, Graphic Design
Logo design
Miilo is a brand selling maternity clothes and newborn baby care items. The general shape indicates a mother holding her baby. You can also see a heart or a butterfly in the shape. It was important to keep the logo simple so it would be possible to be stitched on cloth labels.
Role: Concept, Branding, Logo Design
Supergirl
Have you dreamt of flying? Every time I see flying in my dream, it's done with my mind power. Have to concentrate to stay afloat. This animation was pretty simple. Small movements, but does the trick.
Charackter design by Mariann Lukka
Role: Animation
Superninja
The launch of this pattern was accompanied by a physical mask that looked exactly like that. We told the kids to go get a big towel from the bathroom, wrap it around their sholders and become a superkid! Quite a few happy kinds actually did.

Role: Animation
Pencil sketch
This is as sketch of my beloved grandma, made a day after she passed. A digital pencil sketch, based on a photograph from when she was about the same age as me. I used the time of sketching to think of all the things she meant to me. This one is included in the portfolio, just because it has a sentimental value for me. Well and it's digitally created =)
Role: Digital pencil sketch
Against all odds - Ad
Shooting ad footage with children is not easy. You don't always get what you want. Therefore it sometimes makes more sense to let them be however they want to be and see afterwards what to do with the shots. This is an example of it. I got the footage without any storyboard or idea and built the ad just on top of what was there.
Biting in the plum was so genuine and cool emotion that I just roled with it.
Role: Concept, Video Editing, Motion Graphics
No distractions - Ad
This ad was aimed for out-doorsy people who'd do sports in any weather, but still want to stay comfortable.
Less emotional and more focust on selling points. Here I also just got the footage and was free to cut it together how I felt was best. I added some of the hand drawn animation according to the brand identity.
Role: Concept, Video Editing, Motion Graphics
hõuliART logo design
Contemporary dance artist Kristiina was looking for logo and business cards to give out at her performances. The name and general color she already had chosen. I combined the act name into a visual interpretation. This was quite fun project to work on.
Role: Graphic Design, Branding
University band logo
That was looong time ago =D University band (where I played bass for a very short while) needed a logo and flyers for an upcoming event. I created this really quickly and to my surprise it stayed as the logo until the end. The music style was mostly pop-rock and it fit pretty well. It looked great on the drum set.
Role: Graphic Design
Construction vehicles
It's sometimes not easy to think what sort of movement a specific thing from a fabric print should be doing. I was pretty satisfied with this idea, that an excavator is there to eat the sand. And wants more.
Charackter design by Mariann Lukka
Role: Animation
Oh, Deer!
Oh the magical winter deer. Jumping across and leaving stardust behind. This was quite some work drawing and animating the movement. With animal movements, reference videos are hugely useful to understand how the limbs work. I learned a lot.
Role: Animation, charackter design
Sheet music collection - cover design
This is a cover design for sheet music collection consisting of four parts. I made them look like books in a shelf. The four parts also have titel pages with the abstract paintings made my the music author herself. I prepared them for print and added the titles.
Role: Graphic Design
SnippetGuide App
I thought to myself, if there were just one thing that I would change in Tourism, what would it be... An app that you can use anywhere to learn about the history and it's stories on that location while you travel. Like Google maps with cafes and museums marked on it, but with actual stories that you can listen to.
Role: Business Concept, UX Design, Graphic Design, App development
Study of the flight
This is a hand drawn dove flying right at you. I did this as a practice to understand how a bird flies. The style and result of it was surprisingly pleasing. This kind of animation is quite timeconsuming though.
Role: Animation, charackter design
